Four years after HBO's Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning series came to a close, Sex and the City is back! The world's most fabulous four have returned, now sporting their designer duds for the silver screen.
The series' longtime executive producer, Michael Patrick King, writes and directs Sex and the City, the highly-anticipated romantic comedy scheduled for a May 30, 2008 release by New Line Cinema.
Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, and Jason Lewis also return to their series' roles, as the women's love interests, Candice Bergen reprises her role as Vogue Magazine editor Enid Frick, while Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) joins the cast of the film to play Carrie Bradshaw's assistant, a new character being introduced in the film. Also returning from the series are Mario Cantone, as Anthony Marentino, and Willie Garson, as Stanford Blatch.
After launching on HBO in 1998, Sex and the City ran for six seasons before the series finale in 2004. One of HBO's biggest hits, the series earned 50 Emmy nominations during its run, winning seven of them including acting nods for Parker and Nixon. The series was also nominated for 24 Golden Globes, winning eight including Best TV Series - Musical or Comedy and acting awards for Parker and Cattrall.
The Sex and the City film is being produced by King with Sarah Jessica Parker, John Melfi and Darren Star, who initially created the series based on autobiographical columns written by Candace Bushnell. The project is being overseen at New Line by Toby Emmerich and production executives Richard Brener and Kathy Busby.
